PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

    Principal Megan Dierickx

Dear Shooting Star Community,

All of us at St. Cloud Elementary are excited to begin what promises to be the best year ever! Our school has a strong history of leadership, parent support, caring educators and high academic achievement.  It is my personal goal to continue to make St. Cloud Elementary the best elementary school in the district.

St. Cloud Elementary is truly a community involvement school. You can help most by supporting your child and communicating with our teachers and staff.  We are a community of learners and we share the common goal of making sure that every child can learn to his or her potential in a safe and nurturing environment.

I look forward to wonderful 2018-2019 school year. Thank you in advance for your dedication to our school!

Sincerely,

Megan Dierickx, Principal

    WELCH

Hello, my name is Welch.  I am a new student at St. Cloud Elementary School.  I am such a special student that they put me in a special education classroom.  My title will be an Educational Assistance Dog. My teacher is Mrs. Nori-Gross she will be my handler.  We call her Ms. G.  I cannot wait to meet all my new friends at school.

Even though I am a student, and I love learning new things, I am here to work.  I am here to keep things calm, safe, and stress free for my special humans.  When I am working I wear my special vest.

Of course, I am still a dog and love to be petted, however, when I have on my vest, I am on the job.  I cannot interact with you, because all my attention needs to be on my special class.  So, please think of my vest as a stop sign.  Do not distract me.  Although, I would love to greet you, please know my job is important, so my focus will be on my special class.

What does all this mean?  It means when I am working, my vest will be on.  I cannot pay attention to you so, please do not call me, and no touching.  You will see me all around the school.  I will be on the playground, at block, in the library and even in the cafeteria.  You may pass me in the hallway. I am not being rude when I don’t interact with you.

I just need to do my very important job.  When my vest is off, I am off duty.  I can be talked to and petted.  However, always ask before touching.

I can’t wait for my first day at St. Cloud Elementary School.  I am so proud to be a student!

    Love,

    Welch
